Lime hydrate is widely used in environmental protection fields such as wet flue gas desulfurization, acid industrial wastewater treatment, and chemical, metallurgical, and paper production processes and bleaching powder. The activity and concentration of lime hydrate obtained from the lime slaking process directly determine the efficiency of flue gas and wastewater desulfurization, the degree of purification, and the amount of waste gypsum residue, which directly determine the products of light calcium carbonate, and sinter ore production processes. Lime hydrate quality also influences raw material utilization and operating costs. Therefore, research on lime hydrate quality control technology in the process of lime slaking is of great significance to promote energy conservation and emission reduction and build a “resource-saving and environment-friendly society”. The activity of quick lime is mainly affected by the chemical composition of the quicklime ore, the type of kiln, the type of fuel, the calcination temperature, the calcination time, the lump of limestone and solid fuel, the transportation method and storage time of quick lime. The activity of lime hydrate is completely dependent on the slaking process. Lime hydration is completed by mixing water and quicklime fully at a certain temperature. Quicklime and and water are conveyed to the lime hydrator, in which quicklime and water are mixed and ground by the spiral screw. The screw not only pushes lime hydrate forward, but also grinds lime hydrate to the required fineness. At the same time, this completes the whole process of hydration reaction. In addition to the function of conveying the material, the discontinuous spiral can also crush the lime block, make the lime and water fully contact, and accelerate the digestion reaction. The lifting plate keeps turning up the material, so that the lime and water fully react. After the material enters the reverse thrust discontinuous spiral, a reverse wave is formed, which further accelerates the slaking of lime. The slag and incompletely slaked lime are discharged out of the lime hydrator through the slag discharge screw.
